The HSUS rescue team is deployed to Mississippi, Missouri and Alabama after the recent tornadoes and flooding. Now animals from all over the area are being transported to emergency shelters the HSUS is helping maintain.

The Humane Society of the United States is in Alabama helping victims of the recent tornado.

The HSUS worked closely with local law enforcement in the investigation and raid of an alleged dogfighter and cockfighter in Florida. The investigation is a result of a tip that came from The HSUS’ national animal fighting tip line.

After years of extreme suffering in a Tennessee puppy mill, a dog named Brownie has a different home. Today he's on the road to recovery with a new mom, whose own past played a role in their paths crossing.

Over 50 horses, donkeys and mules were seized by the Cabell-Wayne Animal Shelter due to poor health and signs of neglect. This is one of the largest equine rescues in the state.

November 2008: An investigation by The HSUS reveals that many Petland stores across the country sell dogs from cruel puppy mills to unsuspecting consumers.

Over 200 animals were found living in deplorable conditions in Alabama, and are being safely removed and transported to an emergency shelter where they will be examined by a team of veterinarians and receive any necessary medical care.

The HSUS aided a shelter in Missouri to rescue 77 dogs from two puppy mills. Most of the dogs have made their way to Washington, DC. Local shelters and rescue groups picked up the dogs to get them on their way to new homes.

Forty-three horses were rescued off a property in Lindale, Texas after authorities served the owner a seizure warrant. The Humane Society of the United States and other local animal agencies worked with law enforcement to remove the animals.
